ARGENTIERE - Information

Resort Information ARGENTIERE

If you are going to share a valley and a ski domain with anyone it may as well be somewhere good and Argentière has certainly done well; Its sister resort being the famous and awesome Chamonix.

Set beneath the Grands Montets and surrounded by the jaw-dropping peaks of the Mont-Blanc range Argentière has an almost unrivalled location. The old village retains a traditional atmosphere, with its farm houses and wooden buildings and the newer area offers all the usual modern facilities and services. So whether you are looking for a skiing or snowboarding holiday staying in a modern hotel or a traditional chalet, Argentière is a great choice.

Access is good, with Geneva less than 2 hours down the motorway, so a weekend break is more than practical, but with so much on offer why not book your accommodation for a week and make a few more turns!
The skiing domain is extensive and offers some of the most challenging terrain in France, if not the World. Whilst it is noted for its expert terrain, beginners and intermediates are also catered for.

The slopes of Les Chosalets and those below Tete de Balme are a great place to learn and progress. There are plenty of blue and red runs to keep intermediates busy, but it is for experts where Argentière comes into its own.

There is plenty of challenging piste and for those who wish to venture off-piste (Guide needed) the options are almost limitless. There are gullies and couloirs, steeps and deeps and with some tremendous vertical drops it isn’t hard to find yourself out of breath and at the limit.

The World famous Vallée Blanche should also feature on any advanced skier’s itinerary, with its 24kms slope winding down from the Aiguille du Midi back to the valley 2,700m below.
