MONTGENEVRE - Information

Resort Information MONTGENEVRE

Montgenèvre ski resort, barely two hours from Turin airport, is an attractive alpine village with a good range of local skiing, particularly well suited to beginners and intermediates. For the more advanced skier, the links to the Milky Way ski circuit just over the Italian boarder offer some challenging terrain. The village centre is traditional and compact, with most of its accommodation here, close to both the resort centre and the slopes. Alpine forests surround the village, giving Montgenèvre that picture-postcard look when the snow starts to fall. Montgenèvre ski resort is a also good family resort, easy to get around and offering range of childcare options. Though not as lively as some of the larger French resorts, there is plenty to keep you entertained. High altitude skiing with the possibility to also ski for a day in Serre Chevalier, Puy St Vincent or Alpe d' Huez.Skiing takes place on both sides of the main road leading to the boarder. Montgenèvre's own ski area is of considerable charm and offers challenging runs for all standards leading back down to the village and across the border to Claviere. Snow-cannons have even been added to provide secure training slopes for the Olympic teams. On the other side of the road, a gondola and a quad-chair provide direct access towards the Monti della Luna and the long runs to Cesana Torinese. Montgenèvre also has a terrain park with a half-pipe in the Gondrans area. Extensions to the lift pass can give you access to over 400km of skiing with the Milky Way and other surrounding areas.
