Saanen - Information

Resort Information Saanen

Saanen is one of the most beautiful chalet villages in the Bernese Oberland, with chalet buildings in the town centre dating back to the 15th century. There is access to the Eggli ski area from Saanen or a short bus ride to nearby Gstaad will open up the extensive terrain it has to offer. Gstaad is spread across six independent ski regions and opens up more than 250km of skiing, with 67 individual pistes and a network of 20 lifts. Included in this is the Glacier 3000 - the only glacial area in the Bernese Oberland - with guaranteed winter enjoyment from October until the beginning of May.The skiing in and around Saanen is said to be one of the safest and largest skiing areas in Switzerland. The vast and varied terrain means that this area offers excellent skiing for all levels. The Wispile has some lovely, gentle areas that are perfect for the cautious beginner. There are numerous wide open trails throughout the six regions and many of these offers stunning scenery and tree-lined skiing – perfect for the relaxed intermediate. There are a few black runs, and some mogul fields, as well as extensive off-piste possibilities and even heli-sking options for those look for the ultimate challenges.
