The small, intimate and quaint town of St Johan in Tyrol stands in the shadow of the Kitzbuheler Horn and the Wilder Kaiser mountains. But don't be mistaken into thinking this is a sleepy backwater as St Johan has a buzzing vibe made up from the distinctly international flavour of its visitors. The skiing benefits from having an excellent snow record due to many north facing slopes and with a varying degree of terrain for all kinds of skiers. By purchasing an area lift pass, skiers gain access to 9 other resorts. The nightlife here is lively with many bars and several clubs and with over 50 restaurants there is always something for everyone to enjoy.St. Johann's skiing is on the more northerly face of the Kitzb├╝heler Horn, the ''snow side''. So the 60 kilometres of slopes are in excellent condition throughout a long season. Newcomers try their skill on the blue runs and experienced skiers have a mouth watering range of mainly red runs. A well-planned lift network, including super efficient gondolas, means no delays getting up the mountain. Skiers are also spoilt for choice with the number of mountain restaurants - 18 at the last count.Skiing area Kirchdorf: 4km runs, 2 skilifts; Skiing in Erpfendorf: 2km runs, 1 skilift;Ski passes (for 4-days and more) are now valid for 55 ski lifts and 170km of runs in the Schneewinkel area (St. Johann in Tirol/Oberndorf, Fieberbrunn, Pillersee, Waidring-Steinplatte, Reit im Winkl, Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf) at no extra charge.
